Pasqualino kills his sister's lover for the honor of the family. He pleads insanity and is sent to an asylum. Because he rapes a mad-woman, he is given the option of the concentration camp or the army. He chooses the army, but deserts. He is sent to a German concentration camp, and, in order to survive, he decides to seduce the commandante. After the war, he goes home to his mother and sisters, who have all become prostitutes. He marries his fianc� and plans to have many children to prevent the atrocities of the camp from recurring.
